Great Site For Jewelry Affordable Christmas Gifts

September 1st, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

I have bought Several items on isaybid.com and it is without question the site for Christmas gift shoppers!

I have ordered several items from isaybid.net over the last 3 years. The site is powered by Bidz Auction Network and is very fast!

The auction site itself is fun and kind of feels like gambling. Which can lead to incredible bargains! Canadians can expect to wait 4 weeks for packages to arrive and all of my international mail packages have been mailed from Malmo, Sweden. You can pay extra for Fedex shipping, but it isn’t worth the cost!

I never purchase the appraisals or the ring sizing or the jewelry boxes. I find you can get an independant appraisal from a reputable jeweler in your area for the same fee that isaybid.net charges for their JAR. Also,  sells 100′s and sometimes 1000′s of the same item so you would get a mass produced report and not the individual report you would get from a jeweler. I suggest reading the FTC guide for jewelry before purchase. It is available online.

The photos are stunning, but if you base what you will get by the photo you will be most likely disappointed. The retail compare prices are off by about 85% of the actual retail price on most items.

The semi-precious stones like amethysts, blue topaz, peridots, sapphires, rubies and emeralds and not graded in their descriptions so expect the lowest quality on the market. They only state carat and color.

I have bought from most categories on isaybid.net and will say the brand name watches I have received are the best buys. Some have needed new batteries, but that is a minimal expense.

If you plan to purchase an item from isaybid.net do a google search for coupon codes and go to the manage coupons section of their website and enter the coupon code and experiment that way. You can usually find coupons for $25 with no minimum purchase. So if you are going to try the site I would recommend using a $25 off coupon and only spend $25 or a little above and then just pay for shipping and their 3% transaction fee.

I have had positive experiences. First off the site states that you can find items similar to retailers like walmart so look at the walmart jewelry counter and see what you can expect. Also keep in mind that the items that are up for auction are the ones that are either factory seconds, returns, or overstock and items that don’t sell. I received some very good quality higher end watches and 14k diamond jewelry for a fraction of the price. I only bid on higher end items when they offer free shipping over $250 etc. as the shipping fees are higher on watches and higher end jewelry. Their higher end items are what you can expect to see at a jewelry store. It is important to do your research before bidding. On brand names check their sites. I go to all the brand name watch sites before bidding. Also know the 4′C’s of diamonds. Most of the diamonds on isaybid.net are of lower quality and extremely small. I only bid on clarity of SI1 or SI2. SI3 is an unrecognized grade and is actually an I1 which is a grade to avoid. If you bid on a color after J the diamond will be yellowish. So any I grade diamonds have visible flaws seen with the naked eye and I3 diamonds have so many flaws that they can actually break. Also the diamond cuts aren’t graded as either excellent, good, fair or poor. They only provide type of cut like princess or marquis. The way a diamond is cut regardless of shape will determine how much light it absorbs or reflects and can have a huge impact on the look of the stone regardless of clarity grade.
